Code of Conduct

Celtic Tabletop Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct (CoC) is a core part of our commitment to making all Celtic Tabletop events, including DagdaCon, a safe and secure space for everyone. It is a tool we use to encourage friendly, respectful, and safe interactions between all attendees, which helps make the event more enjoyable for everyone.

The CoC applies to everyone at Celtic Tabletop events, including, but not limited to, all volunteers, members, traders, and attendees at DagdaCon.

The Event Code of Conduct

Celtic Tabletop is dedicated to providing a harassment-free environment for all in attendance at DagdaCon; everyone at the event is expected to be polite and respectful to each other.

We will not tolerate harassment in any form, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Intimidation/Stalking

  • Unwelcome physical contact

  • Unwelcome sexual attention

  • Verbal denigration

  • Disruption of games and events

  • Use of extremely violent or sexualised imagery

  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour.

We expect everyone to apply discretion in their interactions, both at the event and on our online communication channels, such as social media, in advance of the event.

While our event is not marketed exclusively towards children, it is a family-friendly space and many attendees are parents. All attendees are expected to behave in a manner that is suitable for public spaces where children may be present. Our event committee operates under a child protection policy that is in effect for the duration of the convention.

Anyone who is asked to stop any harassing behaviour must comply immediately. If it persists, action will be taken by the event committee.

Reporting a Breach of the Code of Conduct

Before the Event:

If a breach has occurred online before a Celtic Tabletop event, such as DagdaCon itself, please contact the Celtic Tabletop team at our dedicated email address: conduct@celtictabletop.ie. Messages sent to our social media may not be seen as promptly, so email is the recommended method of contacting us.

At the Event:

If someone has harassed you or breached this CoC in any way at DagdaCon, or if you have witnessed or become aware that a breach has taken place, please notify a member of staff or a committee member without delay.

You may ask the person to stop, but only if it is safe to do so, does not risk conflict escalation, and you feel comfortable making the request. An important part of creating a safe environment is ensuring everyone can contribute to event safety.

Even if the person stops, it's important you tell a committee member to ensure that all breaches are recorded and appropriately addressed.

If you don’t want to engage with the person directly, please immediately find a staff or committee member and tell them what’s happened, and we’ll take it from there.

What Happens After a Report?

When receiving a report, our team member will take you aside to a safe location and ensure the conversation cannot be overheard. If it’s a staff member, they’ll find a member of the event committee to take over.

We may ask you to provide details including, but not limited to, the nature of the incident, the names of those involved, and what action you want us to take. All complaints will be handled in accordance with our internal complaints policy.

We will not ask you to confront anyone, and we’ll make sure that the only people who are aware of your complaint are the people on the committee who are dealing with it directly. We will keep you updated on the progress we're making in handling the issue and of any action we decide to take, while keeping your opinion on these decisions in mind.

Keep in mind, if you report a serious criminal matter, the police may need to be involved, and once our committee becomes aware of something like that they have a duty to deal with it responsibly.

Disclaimer

The Celtic Tabletop committee has the right to take any action they deem necessary to keep their events, including DagdaCon, fun, safe, and welcoming for everyone in attendance.

We may take measures such as warning the offender(s), or any other action up to and including expulsion from the event and a ban from future events organised by Celtic Tabletop.

The most important thing about this CoC is that it is here to help all attendees have a good time and to ensure the health and safety of all present. We are all here to celebrate our shared love of tabletop gaming!
