Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Policy

Celtic Tabletop & DagdaCon Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Policy

1. Background - Who we are and what we do

This policy outlines Celtic Tabletop's stance on equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). It is based upon the principles and values expressed in our Code of Conduct and is relevant for all members, volunteers, and attendees at our events, including DagdaCon. This policy is founded on our vision of an inclusive community with people from all walks of life.

Celtic Tabletop ensures that all our events, projects, and internal and external processes conform with our values and the guiding principles of our EDI policy. We take action to ensure equal participation by all people and communities in our work.

Concerns or complaints related to our EDI initiatives are taken seriously. We encourage open communication and have a clear complaints policy in place.

2. Statement of Policy

Celtic Tabletop is dedicated to ensuring that all individuals have the opportunity to participate fully in our events and activities, regardless of their background or identity. We are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion in everything we do.

We believe that our community is made stronger by the diversity of its members. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels safe, welcome, and respected. We will not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or exclusion in any form.

3. Key EDI Principles

  • Valuing Diversity: We recognise and value the richness that different perspectives and backgrounds bring to the gaming community. We are committed to ensuring our events and activities are accessible to all.

  • Zero-Tolerance for Discrimination: We have a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of discrimination, including, but not limited to, discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

  • Fostering Inclusion: We will actively work to foster a sense of belonging for all attendees and members. We will listen to feedback and take proactive steps to address any barriers to participation.

  • Empowering the Community: We believe every individual has a role to play in creating an inclusive environment. We will provide our volunteers and attendees with the guidance and support needed to uphold this policy.

4. Policy Implementation

This policy is to be read in conjunction with our Code of Conduct and Complaints Policy.

  • Responsibility for implementation is delegated to the Celtic Tabletop committee and, through them, to all volunteers.

  • We will make sure the policy continues to be fit for the purpose for which it was intended and is clear to everyone who is affected by it.

  • We will ensure our activities reflect current understandings of quality and are in a format that is accessible and easy to update.

5. Policy Action

All in our organisation can, and do, contribute to how EDI happens in our community. We will ensure that EDI practices are and remain embedded in how we work. Any new EDI actions will be written into an Action Plan for each year.

As new practices develop, they will be added as appropriate to the relevant section of this policy.
